VOLUNTEER

Fáilte romhaibh to the Beechworth Celtic Festival. The fourteenth Beechworth Celtic Festival 2008 promises to be better than ever. After the success of the 2007 event things are looking great. Some praise from our last event:

We have now been to three Beechworth Festivals, travelling all the way from Yeppoon, Central Queensland and this year has been the best yet!  The workshops were excellent and gave me the opportunity to learn more about the whistle and the bodhran as well as play mandolin in some sessions.  I particularly think the sessions are an excellent idea.  My wife had a wonderful time learning about singing unaccompanied.  Oh and we loved learning Irish dancing (we are 52 and 59 :-)  It was great fun! We felt the selection of bands/groups was particularly good giving a wide range of styles to listen to.  We felt the atmosphere this year was just so much better than in the past.  We also felt that the admission by wristband was a very good idea and should be retained.  We'd like to take the opportunity to congratulate the organising committee on a job well done and we are looking forward to next year.

I have just enjoyed my first visit to Beechworth & your Celtic Festival. It was fantastic! Your festival 'runs rings around' the others. Congratulations!! If you keep on offering this fantastic celebration of Celtic Culture....I'll definitely be there more than once again.

Highlight for us, and judging by the crowds in the hall and their standing ovation, the highlight for many others as well, was Lochaber No More a show put together by Braemar with narration by Jamie McKinnon. It told the story of the Jacobite Rebellion of 1688 - 1746. Congratulations to all involved in putting this show together. There should be more of them.

Our participating members have come back with glowing reports of the Festival. Congratulations to you and all your fellow organizers!

The Fire Twirler was magnificent, as were the drum circle...they really set the scene for the Fire and Light procession.

Our 2008 program is in construction at present as we are busy in creation!
